How To Apply Hair Products For Curly Hair
Different product application methods have different advantages and disadvantages. People with curly hair frequently ask, "How to apply hair products for curly hair?”. This is a common question because the majority of people who use hair products do so inefficiently, which results in frizzy and undefined curls.
Some people don't even realize the full potential of their curls because they are unsure of how to apply hair products for curly hair correctly.
In reality, there are more steps to the process than simply putting the product in your hand and running it through your hair. If you want complete coverage and definition, be prepared to quickly restock your styling product supply. A good rule of thumb is one bottle of shampoo to two bottles of conditioner for maximum effectiveness and moisturization. A significant amount of product and time is required to complete this task successfully.
1. Cleanse The Hair
The first step to effectively apply hair products for curly hair is to shampoo. You want to use a shampoo that does not have any dyes, fragrance, parabens, or any other harsh or harmful chemicals.
I am a strong proponent of not using fabric to dry curly hair. When the hair is wet from just being washed, this is the perfect time for moisturization because shampoo is unique in that it opens the cuticle to receive moisture.
This is the time to apply hair products and this is how to make natural hair curly and soft. Please note: Washing and styling your hair as a part of your showering routine is highly recommended. When you have a hair day, the best practice is to wash and deep condition your hair before you shave and soap down, so the steam and heat can benefit your hair, and when you rinse your body off you are also rinsing the conditioner off of your body simultaneously.
Who wants a sticky body after a shower? This is why we recommend these steps in this order.
2. Apply Moisture
The steam from the shower is ideal. Once your hair is shampooed and the hair cuticle is open, this is the time to apply moisture in 2 steps. You have conditioner that you wash out, and then the final conditioner that you leave in. The Nourish Treatment Deep Conditioner is perfect to stay on your hair for 20 minutes while you shave and soap down.
After you have finished soaping down and shaving, this is the best time to rinse the Nourish Treatment Deep Conditioner out. Once you've rinsed all product off of your body and out of your curls, this is the time to apply your Enrich Moisturizer Leave In Conditioner to water saturated hair.

3. Style Options
If you want your curls to be more hydrated after using a product, blot them and keep them very damp with a water spray bottle. After all, the main goal of a Wash-and-Go is gorgeous hair! You can style your hair in a few ways after washing it to promote a hydrated, curly appearance.
Here are some styling options for your curly hair after cleansing and moisturizing. Please note that Wash-and-Go does not mean no effort. Here are some options, but they will require some effort.
Option 1: Shingling
Shingling works exactly as it sounds. Because it gives each strand definition, this method of product addition is incredibly effective. While hair is completely drenched, flip it forward. Apply the product to your hands, then rub them together. Ensure that there is a sufficient product to completely cover each finger. Start at the scalp or root of the hair and run your fingers through your hair as if you were detangling it until there is no more product on your fingers.
As you add more product to your hands two or three more times, keep shingling. After you're done, flip your hair back and shake it side to side to have your curls fall into a beautiful style. You can use a gel or other sealing product on your ends to seal the product. A pick is always great to fluff out your curls to taste.
Option 2: The Textured Fro
This timeless hairstyle can be achieved in a multitude of ways. You can do a twist out. This is a double twist of your hair while it is wet, and then pull the double twists apart in the morning once your hair is fully dry. You can either bonnet dry or air dry this way. Once your hair is dry you can then fluff out the strands to your taste.
You can also after washing and moisturizing, simply use a pick and your hands with product to style. To remove any remaining water, flip your hair to the front and apply the product to your hands before gently pressing it into your curls all over. Don’t forget your roots! Also a note for the curly guys and girls, remember that your hair will shrink a little once fully dry, so please remember that when selecting which option you choose.
Option 3: Bantu Knots
We love this style because it is a show stopper. It exudes confidence, style and pride. This is a style that you want to do while your hair is wet. Please have a water bottle nearby so that you can wet the hair as this is the style that takes the most time and your unstyled hair will dry completely. So you will need a water spray bottle, comb, bobby pins, and duck bill clips.
First section your hair how you would like the bantu knots to be placed on your head. Take each section and secure with a duck bill clip. Make sure that you are spacing all of the sections evenly apart. Once every section is parted and secured, you now want to double twist each section. Once the section is double twisted, keep twisting the hair and wind the hair around the base to form the bantu knot. Secure it with a bobby pin in the center of the knot by taking the bobby pin to the center top of the knot and gently placing it down to secure the twist you made. This is a discrete way to secure your style and help it last.
