AfterPay and ShopPay split your purchase into 4 equal payments, payable every 2 weeks. Your products will still ship as normal, so you delay the pay but not the curl gratification.

According to the American Academy of Dermatology, "fragrances cause more allergic contact dermatitis than any other ingredient"! And according to Secret Scents, "10%-15% of dermatology patients are diagnosed with fragrance sensitization"!
Yet "96% of shampoos, 98% of conditioners and 97% of hair styling products contain fragrance"!

Masking agents are fragrances and chemicals used to alter or neutralize undesirable scents. Examples include synthetic fragrances, essential oils and parts of essential oils (ie, citronellol, limonene, linalool, etc). When masking agents are used, no scent is detected; but negative reactions can still occur.
Yes, the products are equally safe for men, women and children.
Yes, they are.
No, they're not. Although our raw ingredients are grown gluten free, gluten cross contamination could occur from shared manufacturing and processing equipment.
Our products are made from corn, oats, seeds, nuts, beets, avocados and olives. Our raw ingredients may have been processed at facilities also processing soy, wheat and other common allergens.
If you're concerned about a potential reaction, check our ingredient lists before purchasing.
You may also want to do a patch test after receiving our products, but before actually using them.
If you have or suspect an allergic reaction, discontinue using our products and consult your physician.
No, we use gluconolactone and sodium benzoate (GSB), a food-grade preservative, to protect our products from spoilage. GSB is both mild and effective, and accepted by Ecocert for certified organic cosmetics.
It's best to store our products in a cool, dry place, and no refrigeration is required.
Always monitor our products for changes in color, texture and smell.
Organically farmed ingredients are higher in nutrients and antioxidants, which means your hair looks and feels healthier. Organic farming also limits the effects of climate change as ingredients are grown in a way that protects both people and the planet.
Cold-pressed temperatures are less than 120 degrees, which ensures oils and butters retain authentic nutrition.
No, not exactly. Both moisture and hydration are required by all hair textures. Moisture is derived from water-based products that can be absorbed and retained by hair. Hydration is derived from strengthening products that simultaneously reduce moisture loss and increase moisture content by strengthening hair.
Labeling of cosmetics is subject to provisions of the Food Drug and Cosmetic Act and the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act. The Acts require ingredients in cosmetics be listed in descending order by volume.
Fragrances are an exception and only need to be listed as "fragrance". Certain manufacturers voluntarily disclose individual "fragrance" components.
Since almost any claim can be made on the front of cosmetic containers, it's important you get comfortable reading ingredient labels to verify product safety and efficacy.
No, they're not. Hair density is a measure of the number of hair strands within a 1 square inch section of scalp. It's measured as low, medium and high. Hair width is a measure of the thickness of individual hair strands. It's measured as fine, medium and coarse.
pH is potential or power of Hydrogen. It's measured on a scale of 0-14 where 0-6.9 is acidic, 7.0 is neutral and 7.1-14 is alkali.
Human hair and scalp sebum is slightly acidic with a pH between 4.5 and 5.5.
Why does this matter? Many things we do to our hair disrupts this delicate pH balance, pushing it into the alkaline side — think relaxers, dyes and clarifying shampoos — which is damaging and results in breakage and frizz.
Always use neutralizing shampoos after after chemical processes and always use pH-balanced conditioners after shampooing.
BTW, pH opens and closes cuticles, not water. The pH of water is around 7 which is too high to close cuticles.
Hair growth occurs in 4 phases: anagen, catagen, telogen and exogen. Anagen, catagen and telogen involve the growth and maturation of hair, including follicle activity that produces individual hairs. Exogen involves the shedding of hair.
Anagen phase
Growth phase
Lasts 3-5 years
Involves about 85% of your hair
Catagen phase
Transition phase when follicles shrink and growth slows
Lasts 10 days
Involves up to 1% of your hair
Telogen phase
Resting phase when no growth or shedding occurs
Lasts 3 months
Involves up to 15% of your hair
Exogen phase (part of the telogen phase)
Shedding phase
Lasts 2-5 months
Involves up to 15% of your hair (same hair from the telogen phase)
Hair has 3 layers: cuticle, cortex and medulla.
Cuticle layer
Outer layer
Protective layer that can be seen
Resembles shingles that can open and close
Controls moisture, hydration and product penetration
Cortex layer
Surrounds the medulla layer
Determines strength and elasticity of hair and individual color and shape of strands
Main part of hair and is full of keratin protein and lipids
Medulla layer
Inner layer
Loosely packed and disorganized
May not be present in fine hair
Since Black women are twice as likely to experience sensitive skin, it's very important they avoid all harsh and harmful ingredients like fragrance oils, essential oils, synthetic fragrances, masking agents, strong preservatives, drying alcohols, non-soluble silicones, dyes, sulfates, endocrine disruptors, cancer causing ethanolamine compounds, parabens and phthlates.
Yes! A study by the Environmental Working Group found that more than 70% of products marketed for Black hair contain dangerous ingredients, compared to 40% of hair products made for the "general public".
Your health and safety are important and is why CurlyCoilyTresses® products exceed the European standard, the most restrictive standard governing cosmetic ingredients. The European standard bans 1400 ingredients, while the US standard only bans 14.
