Masking agents are fragrances and chemicals used to alter or neutralize undesirable scents. Examples include synthetic fragrances, essential oils and parts of essential oils (ie, citronellol, limonene, linalool, etc).
Masking scents doesn't avoid negative health effects (ie, allergic and asthmatic reactions, etc).
Yes, the products are equally safe for men, women and children.
Yes, they are.
No, they're not. Although our raw ingredients are grown gluten free, gluten cross contamination could occur from shared manufacturing and processing equipment.
Labeling of cosmetics is subject to provisions of the Food Drug and Cosmetic Act and the Fair Packaging and Labeling Act. The Acts require ingredients in cosmetics be listed in descending order by volume.
Note, fragrances, unless voluntarily disclosed by the manufacturer, must only be listed as "fragrance". There is no requirement for the specific content of a fragrance be disclosed.
No, not exactly. Both moisture and hydration are required by all hair textures. Moisture is derived from water-based products that can be absorbed and retained by hair. Hydration is derived from products that simultaneously reduce moisture loss and increase moisture content from products containing hydrolyzed proteins.
No, they're not. Hair density is a measure of the number of hair strands within a 1 square inch section of scalp. It's measured as low, medium and high. Hair width is a measure of the thickness of individual hair strands. It's measured as fine, medium and coarse.
pH is potential or power of Hydrogen. It's measured on a scale of 0-14 where 0-6.9 is acidic, 7.0 is neutral and 7.1-14 is alkali.
Human hair and scalp sebum has a pH between 4.5 and 5.5. Shampoo has a pH between 3.5 and 9.0.
Neutralizing shampoos have lower pH ranges and are used to restore the normal pH of hair after chemical processing (ie, close the cuticle). Clarifying shampoos have higher pH ranges and are used to deeply cleanse hair and scalp (ie, open the cuticle). Normal shampoos (may also be known as pH-balanced shampoos) have mid-pH ranges.
pH opens and closes cuticles, not water temperature. pH of water ranges from 6.14 (hot water) to 7.47 (cold water). Distilled water pH is 7.0.
Organic farming used to grow organic ingredients has many environmental benefits including reduced exposure to pesticides and chemicals, increased amounts of healthy soil, reduced soil erosion, reduced global warming, enhanced water conservation, reduced algae blooms, preserved natural habitats, and improved farm resiliency.

Cold-pressing temperatures are less than 120 degrees, which ensures oils and butters retain authentic nutrition.

Shampooing removes product build up, cleanses your hair and scalp and prepares your hair to be moisturized (ie, lifts your cuticles). Product build up is the progressive coating of your scalp and hair with products. Over time, build up creates a barrier that prevents moisture from actually penetrating into your hair and results in dry hair and flaking scalp. Shampooing isn't optional and co-washing just isn't the same!
Your hair is actually 80% keratin protein and needs protein for good health! If protein left your hair feeling "mushy", "matted" or "tangled", try a different type of protein or change how you use protein. Change how you use by applying Enrich Moisturizer after rinsing O-Ward Winning Nourish Treatment from your hair. The oat protein in both Enrich Moisturizer and O-Ward Winning Nourish Treatment is both a moisturizer and humectant that draws water into hair resulting in truly moisturized hair!
Porosity is a measure of how well your hair absorbs and retains moisture. It’s affected by your cuticle and can be high, normal or low. High porosity is the real challenge since your hair loses moisture as easily as it accepts it! End high porosity drama by layering Organic Pumpkin Seed Oil over Enrich Moisturizer when styling, deep conditioning with O-Ward Winning Nourish Treatment twice monthly and practicing healthy hair techniques like reducing direct heat, eliminating too tight hairstyles and eliminating harsh hair products.
Cotton is both drying and dehydrating to your hair, causes tangles and damage (to your cuticles) and shortens the life of your style. A silk or satin scarf, bonnet or pillowcase are all great options to protect your hair. And nightly "pineappling" of your hair will help in preserving the fullness of your styles. For my vegan Queens: since silk is made from fibers produced by silkworms (which makes it more expensive than satin) it’s not the choice for you. Satin is better for you. Satin is a type of weave and is made from rayon, nylon, polyester or charmeuse. Either option, silk or satin, ensures more moisture for your hair!
Actual moisturizers like Enrich Moisturizer and O-Ward Winning Nourish Treatment have water (or aloe vera) in the top 1-3 ingredients in an ingredients label. Otherwise, it's just not a moisturizer! Get comfortable reading ingredient labels so you know exactly what’s being used on your hair!
Shedding is the 4th and final stage of hair growth when your hair is shed from your scalp. You shed 50-100 hairs daily! Shed hairs are the same length as your hair and still have the bulb (root) attached. Breakage happens from trauma (ie, direct heat, chemical exposure, harsh combing or brushing, damaged ends, etc). Breakage hairs are shorter pieces of hair. Deep condition twice monthly with O-Ward Winning Nourish Treatment and Organic Pumpkin Seed Oil to keep shedding and breakage in check.
Actually, you grow one-half inch of hair monthly, which is six inches annually! If you’re not seeing this amount of growth, evaluate your hair care regimen to determine why you’re experiencing so much breakage. Eliminate any damaging products and techniques and incorporate O-Ward Winning Nourish Treatment and Organic Pumpkin Seed Oil into your hair care regimen for added nourishment.
When you consistently remove your shed hairs during detangling and trim your ends, you can cut your styling time by half! You shed 50-100 hairs daily regardless of how your hair is styled. Shed hairs get trapped in remaining hair and create tangles. Damaged ends "stick" together, cause breakage and create single strand knots. Consistently removing your shed hairs during detangling and trimming your ends cuts styling time by half, avoids breakage, avoids additional damage and avoids single strand knots! Always detangle with water-saturated hair and Enrich Moisturizer. Detangle in sections beginning at your ends, moving up to your roots using your fingers, a detangling comb or a detangling brush.
The absolute best time to moisturize your hair is just after rinsing shampoo from your hair while your hair is still saturated with water and you’re still in the shower! Enrich Moisturizer and water will actually penetrate into your hair for 7 days worth of moisture! And here's the best part: There’s no need to wrap your hair with a towel or t-shirt when exiting the shower as no water will drip from your hair!
Trim your ends every 6-8 weeks if using direct heat, chemicals or harsh hair styling techniques, or 8-10 weeks if not. It’s simple. Damage will cause breakage and move up the hair strand and cause even more damage.
Detangling is all about removing shed hairs. Otherwise shed hairs will become tangled in remaining hair and create knots. Detangle in sections with water saturated hair and Enrich Moisturizer beginning at your ends moving up to your roots. Fingers, wide tooth comb and detangling comb / brush are all great options. After detangling, loosely twist or clip hair to keep already detangled sections isolated and stretched to prevent re-tangling.
Deep conditioning is all about adding nourishment. Deep condition your hair with O-Ward Winning Nourish Treatment and Organic Pumpkin Seed Oil as often as needed, either once or twice monthly or once or twice every two months. Deep conditioning your hair before or after shampooing are equally great options.
We avoid harsh and harmful ingredients including fragrances, essential oils, masking agents, harmful preservatives, drying alcohols, non-water soluble silicones, dyes, sulfates, cancer causing ethanolamine compounds and phthlates.
